Cool Car Ads: Volkswagen’s The Rookie [Video]

Fasten your seatbelts as we take a look back at some of the coolest car-related television commercials to have featured on South African TV sets over the years.

First up, we have one of the all-time coolest ads. Never before had so many young South African’s wanted to drive a Volkswagen Golf GTi than after they had watched a Top Gun-style scene of a baby-faced, milk-drinking, rookie pilot earning his wings by gooiing a Mark II Golf GTi around a test track. Just before he slides the car to a stop in front of the canteen, he completes one of the biggest lift-offs in television history.
