Every car fan has played this game. Close your eyes and imagine that you are walking towards a building with five closed garage doors. It can be any building, old or new, but the important thing is that it is yours and, as such, the contents of said garages are also yours. Five doors, five cars. So, with price and availability taken out of the equation, which cars would you have hidden behind each door?

With each member of the CAR team having given you a personal tour of their dream garage we invited Springbok legend John Smit and beauty Jo-Ann Strauss to submit their own five-car fantasy garages. Award-winning breakfast radio DJ Ryan O’Connor showed us round his collection before another Springbok, Ryan Kankowski, told us how he’d fill his ideal garage. While Kankowski will be missing from the Sharks team for this weekend’s Currie Cup final, we thought it only fair to invite a player that will surely be missed from any rugby team heading into a major final…

Currently enjoying fatherhood while recovering from knee surgery, Schalk Burger burst onto the rugby scene in 2003 and was awarded the IRB Player Of The Year title one year later. He has represented the Stormers in Super Rugby on 88 occasions (also as captain) and has worn the Springbok jersey 68 times, including during the triumphant World Cup final against England in 2007.

Here’s Schalk’s selection:

BMW X5 xDrive40d

The mom’s taxi!

Probably the most `practical`/realistic 5 car spread …so far.
I have the 1m and it really is a great DD… that can thrill (and scare bigger boys) at the same time… a boisterous bulldog crossed with a jack russel on steriods
