A premature celebrator

Remember when you were at school and the athletics coach said “Don’t stop running until you’ve gone past the line”? The same applies in motor racing, “Don’t stop racing until you see the chequered flag”. This incident will surely haunt Italian motorcycle ride Riccardo Russo who decided that the race ended when he crossed the line, not a lap later as was obviously intended by the organisers. Russo started celebrating as the rest of the field sped by and continued racing until the flag fell. Let a lifetime of ribbing begin.
