Those of you that pay careful attention to CAR’s online publications will know of our involvement with the outreach project Live To Race. The organisation usually hosts events at Killarney racetrack in Cape Town but at the end of November – to dove-tail with the cancer awareness months of October and November – Live to Race hosted its very first road event.

On Sunday November 20 Live To Race hosted special passengers either living with or having survived cancer on the mountainous roads around the Western Cape. 17 cars and 27 passengers started their sojourn in rainy conditions at the Franschoek Motor Museum. The convoy made its way out of the French Quarter towards the Theewaterskloof Dam.

Several small towns were passed along the way where cars were refuelled and passengers changed seats to experience all the different sportscars on offer. The total trip covered 220 km of some of the most spectacular roads the Cape has to offer.

TEN10 concept seems likely to become a fixture of Live to Race’s usual racetrack activities. All those keen to get involved with Live to Race can contact chairman Joe Struwig on 083 419 5114 or livetorace1@gmail.com
