Hybrids are slow, environmentally friendly, light on fuel and generally a tad dull, aren’t they? They’re not the kind of vehicles usually associated with sweaty palms and racing pulses… Lexus Italy thinks otherwise…

As part a customer-awareness campaign, a group of prospective Lexus GS450h owners were lured to an impromptu “handling” test and somehow convinced to have a heart-rate monitor fitted to their chests. The challenge set was for each passenger to keep their heart rates below 120 bpm while a Lexus test driver took them out for a leisurely test drive. Simple, right?
